Award ceremony – Prix Optimus
- Podium (Ω)
Swiss National Science Foundation
The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) is awarding its Optimus Agora prize to the TeraPixel Panorama Project of Sarah Kenderdine and Daniel Jaquet at EPFL. In a series of exhibitions held in Switzerland in 2025 and 2026, they will present the world's largest digital image of an artwork: they have digitised the Panorama of the Battle of Murten. Their digital “twin” of the 1000-square-metre canvas, which has been kept under wraps for more than 20 years, will be enhanced with animations, sound and 3D reconstructions. The aim of the project is to make this work, and the aspect of Swiss history it depicts, better known to the wider public as well as to specialists. A website and an interactive tool will also make this work accessible beyond Switzerland’s borders and for the long term.
